Critical Chain Project Management, WBS, Planning and Resource

You should identify a specific planning and resource management problem that is impacting on the ability to deliver a project within your organisation; this can either be a project that you are currently working on or have recently worked on. You should critically analyse the problem and make specific recommendations on the planning and resource management tools and techniques that could be used to improve delivery of the project. The assignment should consist of the following five sections:

1) Introduction: Identify the organisations involved in the project, the specific planning and resource management tools and methods used, and the specific planning and resource management issues that the project is suffering from. This part of the assignment carries zero marks and should be no more than five sentences long.

2) Literature review: Select a specific (no more than one) planning and resource management problem within your organisation and then critically review published literature on this topic area,e.g. critical chain project management, work breakdown structures, project scope definition. As a guideline, this part of the assignment should include between 6 and 10 references from peer reviewed published literature. The literature review must relate to problem that you will analyse in the next section. As a guideline, this part of the assignment should be 750 words.

3) Problem analysis: Select a) or b) Either a) Problem analysis of a current project: In relation to the literature review presented in the previous section, provide a detailed critical analysis of a specific (no more than one) planning and resource management problem currently encountered on a project within your organisation. It is essential that you critically analyse the problem rather than simply describing the process followed. This problem should then form the basis of the recommendations you make in the next section. As a guideline, this part of the assignment should be 750 words. Or b) Problem analysis of a recently completed project: In relation to the literature review presented in the previous section, provide a detailed critical analysis of a specific (no more than one) planning and resource management problem that was encountered on a project you were recently working on within your organisation. It is essential that you critically analyse the problem rather than simply describing the process followed. This problem should then form the basis of the recommendations you make in the next section. As a guideline, this part of the assignment should be 750 words. 4) Recommendations: Based on the problems identified in the previous section make a maximum of three key recommendations on how the planning and resource management activities within your organisation might be improved; this can be for a project you are currently working on or one that you have recently completed. Comment on how you would (or did) implement your proposed recommendations, the problems you might (or did) encounter, how you would (or did) overcome the problems, and the potential benefits that might (or did) arise. You must support your recommendations with references from published literature. As a guideline, this part of the assignment should be 750 words. 5) Critical Reflections/Lessons Learnt: Critically reflect on the lessons you have learned from this assignment. Rather than simply providing a summary of what you have discussed in the previous sections, it is important to identify how your learning can be carried forward to the future delivery of projects. As a guideline, this part of the assignment should be 250 words.
