PSA: First, the PSA portion of the assignment is limited to 30 seconds to 2 minutes; the remaining time is allotted for the oral presentation of the project. The PSA requires you to pick an interpersonal concept, theme, or chapter that you believe is the most important and the public needs to know to improve their interpersonal communication skills. The PSA will have storyline, images/video, sound/music, and words (visual/audio) to enhance your persuasive element of the PSA. PSA Description For the final course project, students will create a Public Service Announcement. Public Service Announcements (PSAs) are short persuasive messages intended to influence the behavior of a target audience. The primary subject of the PSA will focus on successful interpersonal communication. The PSA will be geared towards a specific audience (young couples, child-parent communicators, inter-generational communicators, friends, or communicators in the workplace etc.). Students will develop their presentation based on the preselected topic chosen at the initial mandatory class meeting: foundations of IC (communication competency, impersonal vs. interpersonal comm.) self concept, perception, emotions, language, nonverbal communication, listening, or concepts related to the general aspects of relationships (dynamics or intimacy/distance). Then, create a campaign that serves the public interest. Students will persuade their audience to or not to engage in a specific behavior. The entire presentation should last between 3-5 minutes.
